From tonight, Angie Dixon beat Alex Vindman. Vindman spent $2.2 million 66 times more than Nixon on advertising. I don't think (as a comms guy) that air war shouldn't be a tool but I do think it has limited impact when you don't hit the right notes.

An incredible win/upset for sure! But had Vindman spent much of that $2 million on ads attacking Dixon? My sense is he had written her off and was pouring that money into attack ads against the Republican general election oppontent. So not sure that the Florida results contradict the point we're making here

I have no idea how he spent that ad money and to be clear I'm not against well targeted ad spends for sure. I guess the broader question is how she pulled it off because her field money was also very low in comparison. What's the X factor here? Because it's a hell of a win.

I found this analysis very strategic. Socialists do not have the resources and money of the establishment. Even if socialists did have the money and resources, what really matters is not the ability to communicate a message, but the content of that message. Does it tap into the lived experience and thinking of those who potentially could be supporters? Socialists need to be good listeners: from the masses to the masses; socialists need to articulate the needs, the desires, and aspirations of those on the losing side of the American dream. A great piece that speaks to one of the challenges of success.
