No ICE, No War
Let’s Make Our Voices Heard

This week has made painfully clear the connection between MAGA’s fascist attacks overseas and at home.
Last weekend the Trump administration bombed Venezuela, abducted its head of state, and openly declared that the United States will “run” the country. As we wrote earlier this week, “Trump’s war on Venezuela is cut from the same cloth as his war on Black, Brown, immigrant, and working-class communities at home.”
Within hours of penning that statement, the world learned that Renée Good had been gunned down by an ICE agent, while attempting to provide care for her neighbors and community. Her wife, Becca Good, has since released the following statement:
Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn’t wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine.
Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow.[...]
We were raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, all of us deserve compassion and kindness. Renee lived this belief every day. She is pure love. She is pure joy. She is pure sunshine.
On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns.
This weekend millions of Americans will take to the streets to say “No ICE, No Wars, No Kings.” You can find a protest near you with May Day Strong, Indivisible or other partners, or sign up to host your own.
We have whistles, and voices, that individually are fragile, but gathered in their millions become a mighty force. Let’s make ourselves heard.

I hope you’ll take a look at my recommendation that blue-state governors be encouraged to call a national day of protest, declare a state holiday, close non-essential state government offices, broadly highlight the necessity to win next fall’s elections, and call for calculating public action to make sure Trump won’t try to suspend them. It’s on GlobalReset, my Substack page.
